This designation honors the brave Portage County Veterans who were wounded or killed in combat while serving our nation, as well as the families who continue to carry their legacy. It represents a lasting commitment from our community to recognize their sacrifice and ensure their service is never forgotten.

What to Expect:

  • A meaningful designation ceremony honoring this tremendous occasion.
  • Brief Remarks from local leaders and community representatives
  • Recognition of Purple Heart recipients, Gold Star families and veterans in attendance.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and be part of this meaningful moment for our community.

This ceremony is part of the Turn Portage Purple Campaign, an initiative spearheaded by Homefront Heroes of Portage County in collaboration with Gold Star Mom, Linda Dillon.  This campaign is committed to honoring combat-wounded veterans, commemorating those who gave their lives in defense of freedom, and fostering greater community awareness of their sacrifices.

We invite you to stand with us as Portage County takes this important step in honoring those who have given so much.
