Meet Our Executive Board

Steven Farhat

 

 

Steven Farhat serves as the Board Chairman and Founder of Homefront Heroes of Portage County, where he leads the organization’s mission to honor, support, and advocate for veterans throughout the community. He established Homefront Heroes and assembled its inaugural Board of Directors in August 2025, driven by a commitment to ensuring that the service and sacrifice of local veterans are recognized and remembered.


A lifelong Portage County resident, Steven has a longstanding record of community involvement and public service. He has served on associate boards for the Fraternal Order of Police and CASA of Portage County, and has volunteered with the Skeels-Matthews Community Center, assisting with youth programs and educational initiatives.


In addition to his leadership at Homefront Heroes, Steven is pursuing his Juris Doctor at the University of Akron School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a high school educator in the Ravenna School District, teaching government, economics, and history. His passion for leadership, public policy, and community engagement continues to guide his efforts to strengthen Portage County and improve the lives of those who have served our nation.

Del Dubinsky

 

 

Del Dubinsky serves as Co-President of Homefront Heroes of Portage County, where she plays a key leadership role in advancing the organization’s mission of honoring, supporting, and advocating for veterans throughout the community.


A resident of Ravenna, Del has served in numerous board and leadership positions across Portage County, bringing a wealth of experience, dedication, and community insight to the organization. She also has an extensive history of volunteer service, including her work with UH Portage Medical Center and various local community initiatives.


Passionate about community engagement and veteran advocacy, Del works closely with fellow board members, community leaders, and local veterans to develop programs and initiatives that recognize and support those who have served our nation. She remains committed to ensuring that veterans and their families feel valued, supported, and appreciated for their service and sacrifice.

Paul Moskun

 

Paul Moskun serves as Co-President of Homefront Heroes of Portage County, where he plays a leading role in guiding  the organization’s efforts and initiatives. 


 A lifelong resident of Ravenna, Paul is deeply committed to serving his community and has built strong relationships through years of civic engagement and public service. He has served as a City Councilman in the City of Ravenna since 2018 and deeply values the opportunity to give back to the community he has proudly called home his entire life.  


Paul's leadership, dedication to public service, and passion for supporting local veterans make him an integral part of the organization’s mission and continued growth.

Crystal Mathews

 

 

Crystal Mathews serves as Vice President of Homefront Heroes of Portage County, where she plays a critical role in strengthening the organization's outreach efforts and ensuring that veterans and their families receive the recognition and support they deserve.


Crystal has a long history of dedication to veterans causes, having devoted countless hours to supporting veteran-focused initiatives, events, and outreach efforts throughout the region. She is especially passionate about conducting veteran buddy checks and has spent numerous hours visiting and supporting veterans in local hospitals, providing companionship, encouragement, and a listening ear to those who have served. Crystal has also cultivated a strong network of veterans and military families, allowing her to connect individuals with resources, opportunities, and support while fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among those who have served.


Crystal's passion for service, commitment to giving back, and strong connection to the veteran community have made her an invaluable part of the organization’s leadership team and a trusted advocate for veterans throughout Portage County.

Kathy Karas

 

Kathy Karas serves as Board Secretary of Homefront Heroes of Portage County, where she plays a critical role in maintaining organizational records, coordinating board communications, and ensuring the efficient administration of the organization's governance and operations. Born and raised in Atwater,  Kathy brings a deep connection to the local community and a strong passion for giving back to those who have served our country.


 Working as a pharmacist for many years, Kathy developed a strong commitment to serving others and improving the well-being of her community. Her professional experience, attention to detail, and dedication to helping those in need have made her a valuable asset to Homefront Heroes and the veteran community it serves. 


She remains committed to ensuring that veterans and their families feel recognized, appreciated, and supported throughout the community.

Maria Hydell

 

 

Maria Hydell serves as Board Treasurer of Homefront Heroes of Portage County, where she helps oversee the organization’s financial operations and supports its mission of serving veterans throughout the community.


Maria's background as an experienced financial professional provides Homefront Heroes with valuable expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational oversight. Her extensive career in commercial lending, underwriting, and risk management has equipped her with the skills necessary to help ensure the organization's long-term financial stability and responsible stewardship of its resources.


Beyond her professional career, Maria is deeply committed to serving her community. She is actively involved at St. Rita Parish in Solon, serves as an Elections Voting Location Manager, and is a Trustee for the Portage County District Library. Through these roles, she has demonstrated a longstanding dedication to civic engagement, volunteerism, and public service.


Her strong financial background, attention to detail, and commitment to community service make her a valuable asset to the organization as it continues to grow and expand its impact throughout Portage County.
